We got tired of eating the same three dishes in every country we visited.

You know the menu. Pizza. Pasta. A burger, just in case. It's the same laminated page whether you're in Barcelona, Bangkok, or somewhere you specifically flew four hours to not be in Barcelona or Bangkok.

We travel because we actually want to be somewhere. So when we're in Greece, we want a glass of wine that only makes sense in Greece — from a Greek winery, made by someone who'd be personally offended if you compared it to anything French. Same goes for the cheese. Same goes for pretty much everything on the plate.

The trouble is, that kind of place doesn't put up billboards. You find it by asking a local, or by getting hopelessly lost and stumbling into it by accident — which, frankly, is a terrible way to plan a trip.

So that's what localfudy actually is: the local who tells you where to go, minus the part where you need to already know a local.
